Did you know that Castlecomer Discovery Park is a not for profit social enterprise? Our purpose is to develop rural tourism that creates jobs and helps regenerate the town of Castlecomer. All our income is reinvested into the enterprise to support that mission.
This ‘young’ park is continuously evolving to ensure that the rich cultural heritage bequeathed through the work of the miners and Captain Wandesforde is commemorated. Preserving the character of the old buildings and developing the former ‘Leisure Park’ to a multi activity woodland park for ‘all to enjoy’ is a key element for the vision of the park – and more than just a tag line in our logo!
The park is a social/community enterprise operating on a Non Profit basis. It’s supported by volunteers from the local community, and governed by a board of voluntary directors. Any profit is re-directed to developing the park.
