Here at Castlecomer Discovery Park we are assigning May as Project Family month. What does that mean? We will be hosting a range of events that are specially designed for families to bond and spend quality time together in nature.
Our activities are designed to provide the environment where families can bond, completing challenges that build self- esteem and create wonderful memories.
The beautiful surroundings of the park here are perfect for parents to relieve stress and to avail of healthy activities that promote good behaviours in young people, and more importantly get rid of the screens for the day!
Join us on Saturday 12th & 26th May for our family bonding challenge “Raft Building”. Our instructors will challenge you with the task of making a raft. How would you fare getting off a desert island? Your family are required to make a water worthy vessel, but using only limited supplies and no instructions! Teamwork, communication, and a positive attitude are key to staying afloat. Work as a family and have lots of fun working out how to get onto our lake. This activity is for family teams up to 5 people (age 8 +). Cost per family is €50 and this activity takes about four hours.
How would your family fare as a nature detective, join us on Saturday 5th & 19th May for our Bug & Nature hunts in our stunning forest. This is an activity that all the family can do and is suitable for 5 upwards. Children are natural born explorers and this activity gives them the opportunity to search out the abundance of insect life under rocks and logs. Bug viewers are provided and our trained guide will give you lots of interesting facts about our inspect life. Times are available on our website and the sessions approximately 45 minutes. Cost per child is €5 and adult price is €2.50.
